Artist's Comments

This painting was something I started back in May 2004 when Henry County Police Officer Jimmy Gilbert was killed in the line of duty an exit up from where I live. Since then, another Henry County Police Officer (Chuck Haist) has also died in the line of duty, responding to fellow Officers.

Some might say that the flag background is cheesy or cliche, but it has grown on me. There are some issues with the painting and some flat areas, but it has gotten to a point where I am not going to be working on it any longer. The print will not have the title and seal at the bottom.

The reference photo was one from the Henry Neighbor front page.

This is awesome! Good work! Sorry to hear that two men died. That is life no matter what, someone always gets killed in or out of action.

I just wanted to say thank you, for caring, I'm a Cadet/Explorer (much like a jr fire fighter, which i am also) I've been around DA for a while now, and never saw this kind of kindness, for a fallen officer. Up here in Pa we recently lost a fellow officer, who i had seen the night before he was shot, I don't know if you know any thing about it, but he was brutaly exictued while doing a tox scan at a hospital, his partner was shot as well as hospital tec, both survived, Brian however did not.

I added your pictures to my wish list as well as my favorits..Thanks again
nice to know some one still cares about us cops.

I will live this life until this life wont let me live here any more, and I will walk with patience through that open door, I have no fears angels follow me where ever I may go.

Team work is Essential, it gives them other people to shoot at

Thank you for this image. I am a police officer in Las Vegas, Nevada. We lost an officer last year to a banger/rapper who sang about shooting a cop. He did.....now he is singing in another world.

I am very familiar with the "Blue Line". I went to the Washington DC national Law Enforcement memorial last year and at the memorial wall of all the officers killed in the line of duty, they have a laser light going straight over the memorial park. It is so cool to witness in person. I wear a rubber wrist band with the blue line going around it. I am also writing a poem about the "Blue Line".

I wanted to ask you...I am the art director for our police departments training magazine. "The Training Wheel" it is a full color, glossy magazine like you'd see in any book store. It goes to all of the members of our department which is 4-5 thousand and we also send courtesy copies to other police agencies throughout the country and internationally. It is going to Canada, England, Australia, Germany and sevral other countries. We are a non-profit publication because we ask no subscription. We always put some type of memorial poem in our inside cover and I want to ask your permission if I can use your image in one of our upcomming issues. May 07 is Police memorial month and I think your image woould fit great there. I am unable to offer any money comensation but I can give you full credit; name email, website and exposure all over the world. You will be published in what is said to be one of the finest police publications out there. I will also provide you with several courtesy copies for your own portfolio.

I will repect your decision as I am professional and would not go against any copyright. I would ask if you do allow us to use it. That you email a high res version as it goes to an outsource printer. If it is a real large file, please compress it and send it to taylordart@cox.net.

Thank you for your concideration. ~Patrick Taylor
